Najee is a Grammy and NAACP Award-winning Contemporary Jazz pioneer whose career has spanned close to four decades. “My life has been a series of pivotal events and circumstances that have gotten me to where I am,” he reflects. Najee’s latest release, Savoir Faire (Shanachie Entertainment), is a Pan-American musical journey recorded during the pandemic and featuring guests from New York to São Paulo. “I gave up worrying about disputes between genres a long time ago,” Najee says. “Duke Ellington said there are only two kinds of music: good music and bad music.
