Contemporary jazz saxophonist Euge Groove returns with The Phoenix, a powerful new album that reflects both personal transformation and artistic renewal. Following a life-saving open-heart surgery and a year-long recovery, Groove emerged with a renewed sense of purpose, channeling themes of resilience, gratitude, and spiritual growth into what may be his most personal recording to date.
A graduate of the University of Miami School of Music, Groove has built a celebrated career as both a solo artist and collaborator, performing and recording with legendary artists including Tina Turner, Tower of Power, Eurythmics, Aaron Neville, Huey Lewis, Joe Cocker, and many others. Known for his signature blend of contemporary jazz, R&B, pop, and soul influences, he has earned a reputation as one of the genre’s most distinctive and melodic voices.
Created with longtime collaborators including Tracy Carter, Corney Mims, and producer Paul Brown, The Phoenix showcases Groove’s gift for memorable melodies, soulful improvisation, and heartfelt storytelling. The album balances uplifting grooves, reflective ballads, and deeply personal compositions inspired by his recovery journey, including tributes to his beloved service dog, Odysseus, who played a vital role during his healing process.
