Best known for his five-times platinum hit “Home,” Phillip Phillips has always been interested in making music that allows people to reflect on their lives. Growing up in Leesburg, Georgia, he picked up guitar at age 14, teaching himself by playing along with his family’s karaoke machine before taking up singing and songwriting as a teenager.
After taking a break from working in his family’s pawn shop to audition for American Idol in 2011, Phillips emerged as the show’s Season 11 winner. Premiering the same day he claimed victory, “Home” became the most successful coronation song of any Idol winner and helped launch his debut album, The World From The Side Of The Moon, which debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and quickly went platinum.
Known for his high-energy live shows, Phillips has toured with artists including Matt Nathanson, John Mayer, and the Goo Goo Dolls, and shared the stage with Bruce Springsteen at the Rock in Rio Festival. His later releases, including Collateral and the recent single “Love Like That,” reflect the importance of family, fatherhood, and the personal experiences that continue to shape his songwriting.
