Party Train carries forward one of the most iconic sounds in American music—the horns, the grooves, and the unmistakable funk that made The Gap Band a global phenomenon. Featuring musicians who toured, recorded, and wrote with The Gap Band alongside a powerhouse lineup of seasoned performers, Party Train brings the authentic sound and energy of the classic catalog to audiences old and new.
At the heart of Party Train are musicians with deep roots in The Gap Band’s legacy. Oliver Scott is a Grammy-nominated songwriter and co-writer of the R&B classic “Yearning for Your Love,” along with eight additional album tracks recorded during his years with the group. Co-Musical Director Roman Johnson co-wrote “Wednesday Lover” from Gap Band VIII, while Billy Young contributed as a songwriter and producer on four Gold and Platinum-certified albums. Together with an accomplished touring band, they deliver a live show celebrating the hits, the horns, and the unmistakable groove that defined a generation.
