A1A – The Official and Original Jimmy Buffett Tribute Show was formed in 1991 when lead vocalist and guitarist Jeff Pike teamed up with Scott Nickerson, founder of the first Jimmy Buffett Parrot Head Club. After winning a Jimmy Buffett Sound Alike Contest in 1992, the group caught the attention of Jimmy Buffett and his team and was granted permission to bill themselves as “A1A – The Official & Original Jimmy Buffett Tribute Show.” For more than three decades, A1A has stayed true to Jimmy’s vision and remains the only tribute show ever officially endorsed by him.
Throughout its 34-year history, A1A has performed for high-profile clients, Parrot Heads, and fans nationwide, with many members of Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band joining them onstage over the years. Beginning in 1992, A1A became the first band to perform at Meeting of the Minds, headlining the event for seven consecutive years and helping shape the growth of the Parrot Head community and the Trop Rock/Coastal Americana genres.
Today, following Jimmy Buffett’s passing in 2023, A1A’s mission to honor his legacy is more meaningful than ever. Their coast-to-coast tours continue to draw record crowds, fueled by the energy, musicianship, authenticity, and heartfelt dedication that have made A1A the longest-running and most respected Jimmy Buffett tribute show in history.
