After 45 years in California, Al Stewart is saying goodbye to the West Coast.
Beginning April 30 in Phoenix, Al and his longtime band The Empty Pockets will embark on a run of shows through California, Oregon, and Washington, concluding May 23. They’ll be joined by contemporary jazz saxophonist Chase Huna, whose sax and flute work has become a signature of Al’s live shows.
Audiences can expect songs that defined his career, including “Year of the Cat,” “Time Passages,” “On the Border,” and “Modern Times,” alongside selections from his extensive catalogue.
For West Coast audiences, this is the farewell. Says Stewart: “I can still see doing occasional shows here and there, but as for the long tours in faraway places, this is it.”
In Al’s own words: “I’m just a folk singer that is interested in history and wine that got lucky with some hit records! It’s as simple as that really.”
