Corky Laing’s Mountain performs the classic Mountain repertoire (Mississippi Queen, Nantucket Sleighride, Never in My Life and others) with unparalleled enthusiasm and energy as it was originally recorded. People who have recently seen the band live, say that the show reminds them of the brilliant Mountain shows in the 70s. The band features the living legend Corky Laing on drums and vocals, who hasn’t lost any of the power and passion he has become known for. He is thrilled to be joined on stage by Richie “the Emperor of Rock ‘n’ Roll” Scarlet on guitar (ex Ace Frehley’s Comet & Mountain) and the multi-instrumentalist Mark Mikel (The Pillbugs & songwriter for Alan Parsons) on bass, keyboards, and vocals.
The Quilts, yielding from Ohio, are an extremely powerful, melody-driven group that uniquely blends elements of alternative, blues-based rock n’ roll. The band is comprised of Chris Scott (lead vocals), Steven Altonen (guitar), Mike Hennel (drums) and Doug Roskovics (bass).
Put together as somewhat of a “supergroup”, this highly accomplished quartet have toured with the likes of ZZ Top, Collective Soul, Incubus, Candlebox, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, JJ Grey and Mofro, Robin Trower, Grace Potter, Blues Traveler, Foghat, REO Speedwagon, and many more.
With the release of their debut single, Chris Scott says that “‘Sweet Molasses’ speaks to the millions of people affected (both directly and indirectly) by the ongoing Opioid Crisis…”
“Meshed with a compelling performance showcased by The Quilts, we are struck with an intense amount of emotion that effortlessly seeps from a place of reason. Utilizing their platform in a way that acts as a voice for those not being heard, The Quilts have delivered a seamless creation that has their artistry sky-rocketing…” – BUZZ MUSIC
The Quilts released their second single, Time, along with another compelling and memorable music video on June 27th, 2021. They will be releasing two more singles over the course of the next several weeks prior to hitting the road.
“Sweet Molasses”, along with the band’s entire debut EP, was recorded with super Producer/Engineer Chuck Alkazian (Pop Evil, Soundgarden, Tantric) and edited at the legendary Pearl Sound Studios (Asking Alexandria, Eminem, Filter) in Canton, MI. They will be joining Alcazian once again later this summer to finish up writing and tracking their heavily anticipated full length record.
