On October 3, 2018, Joel “Razor Sharp” Johnson, the amazing keyboardist who powered
George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, Bootsy’s Rubber Band and Freekbass’s backing band, passed away from heart disease complications.
But his heart beats on: in the music, in the groove, in the funking ether. And those of us who loved him are gathering to honor his legacy.
Join us Dec. 29 at
The Ludlow
Garage as we welcome The Rubber Band, with special guest
Young James Brown, to lift up the funk community and remember one of its most special denizens.
Proceeds from this gathering of funk royalty, emceed by William “Bootsy” Collins and his wife, Patti, will benefit the Bootsy Collins Foundation and will be used to fund a scholarship.
So, gather the Funkateers and make plans to join us in Cincinnati later this month, cuz we gonna tear the roof off…for Razor!
