“What’s the point of doing what we do if we can’t bring joy and unity to others?” asks Curtis Harmon, drummer and founding member of Contemporary Jazz pioneers Pieces Of A Dream. Pianist and co-founder James Lloyd adds, “Our mission has always been to bring people together through music.”
That spirit defines the group’s 26th recording, We Got This, a collection of soulful, groove-driven originals reflecting the band’s deep bond and resilience, created during a challenging period in Lloyd’s life. “I’m grateful to my brothers for having my back,” he shares.
Discovered as teenagers by Grover Washington Jr., Pieces Of A Dream have spent nearly five decades shaping their signature “Jazz Funk” sound—blending funk, R&B, and smooth jazz—while selling over three million albums and performing with legendary artists. Approaching their 50th anniversary in 2026, POD continue to inspire audiences with uplifting, feel-good music.
“We hope there’s a song here for everyone,” says Harmon.
